These stories follow Grandbee, Willoughbee, and Callibee as they travel the world discovering treasures that point to Jesus Christ. Each month features a unique gemstone or treasure, the country where it is found, and lessons in geography and geology.
Examples: August: Pearl (Japan) - I Am the Living Water. September: Opal (Australia) - I Am the Light of the World.
Along the way, children discover additional treasures of truth that spark discussions, questions, and ah-ha moments. Through stories from history, scripture, Church history, biographies, art, science, and more, they come to know Jesus Christ and better understand His character.
As children discover treasures of truth, beauty, faith, and wonder, they can add small objects and keepsakes to their own treasure box as reminders of what they are learning.
It is always interesting doing this work. The full picture often comes piece by piece, and over time those pieces begin to fit together. The treasure theme became the connecting thread for the entire series and offers a joyful way for children to gather what they are learning about Jesus Christ in their hearts and minds.
“And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels.” - Malachi 3:17
The phrase make up my jewels points to the day the Lord gathers His faithful covenant people as His treasured possession. This series invites children to discover the treasures of Christ and to understand how precious they are to Him.
